Some tests

Minger Ye ⋅ 12th February 2022

These are two rough tests for the first shot in the first person perspective.

Although interactions in this animation is very simple, it mostly takes place in the husband’s point of view. So if the audience is thinking about: why the only thing I can do is tapping on plates and cups? And this reflects exactly what the man does in the household: he does nothing but tap on the plates constantly. He doesn’t help his wife with the household chores nor does he look after their baby.

Storyboards

Minger Ye ⋅ 12th February 2022

This is my storyboards of this interactive film.

I plan to use Adobe Animate to create this animated film that allows for simple interaction. In fact there is no complex interaction, but rather the viewer just clicks on one or two items to move the plot along. There are not too many camera changes in the film either, but both first and third person perspectives are used.

Sorry I forgot to include the opening credits here but I think after the title shows up, the image will just fade-in.

There are some interactive parts being marked as red.

If there’s any question about the story please feel free to make comments or contact me and discuss with me 🙂

Introduction

Minger Ye ⋅ 12th February 2022

In this interactive animation, I want to present something happens on a dinner table that shows some unequal family relationships. Some men are very arrogant and rude to their wives at home. And women find it difficult to escape this life for various reasons. I hope this film will make people understand women who are in difficult situations.

  1. Mission Statement
I wanted the audience to feel the arrogance of some of the men in the family and the plight of the women.
  2. Synopsis
This is something that happens at the dinner table.
  3. Outline
At the dinner table, the husband occasionally taps his plate to get his wife to serve the food. After several repetitions, the wife became dissatisfied with this. An argument broke out and the man hit the woman. However, the day after this happens, everything goes on as usual.
  4. Concept, Visual & Technique Treatment
The film will be presented in the form of an interactive animation which can be made by Adobe Animate.

Character design

Minger Ye ⋅ 12th February 2022

Actually I want the characters not showing their heads in the film. The atmosphere is presented by their actions and sounds. But the character design still need to be a completed person so I add some characteristics to their figures.

The Man

This is a tall, middle-aged man wearing glasses.

His dress suggests that he is well cared for by his wife.

The Woman

This is a thin housewife.

Her apron is stained.

Concept Art

Minger Ye ⋅ 12th February 2022

These are some rough skethces for the project to finding some styles.

My initial idea about this interactive animation is to make a black and white style with lines and some textures.
